Camping wild is a wonderful way to experience the natural world and, at its best, it makes little environmental influence. But with increasing numbers of people wanting to escape into the wilderness, it is becoming more and more important to camp unobtrusively(不引人注目地)and leave no mark.
Wild camping is not permitted in many places, particularly in crowded lowland Britain. Wherever you are, find out about organizations responsible for managing wild spaces, and contact them to find out their policy on camping and shelter building. For example, it is fine to camp wild in remote parts of Scotland, but in England you must ask the landowner’s permission, except in national parks.
Camping is about having relaxation, sleeping outdoors, experiencing bad weather, and making do without modern conveniences. A busy, fully-equipped campsite(野营地)seems to go against this, so seek out smaller, more remote places with easy access to open spaces and perhaps beaches. Better still, find a campsite with no road access: walking in makes a real adventure.
Finding the right spot to camp is the first step to guarantee a good night’s sleep. Choose a campsite with privacy and minimum influence on others and the environment. Try to use an area where people have obviously camped before rather than creating a new spot. When camping in woodland, avoid standing dead trees, which may fall on a windy night. Avoid animal runs and caves, and possible homes of biting insects. Make sure you have most protection on the windward side. If you make a fire, do so downwind of your shelter. Always consider what influence you might have on the natural world. Avoid damaging plants. A good campsite is found, not made ? changing it should be unnecessary.
56. You needn’t ask for permission when camping in .
A. national parks in England B. most parts of Scotland
C. crowded lowland Britain D. most parts of England
57. The author thinks that a good campsite is one .

C. finding a campsite with privacy D. building a campfire
59. The passage is mainly about

Experts say learning disabilities are not with intelligence or the willingness to work hard. The problem, they say, is that some people’s brains process information differently.
By definition, people with learning disabilities are average or above average in their intelligence. But their disorders may affect their ability to gain knowledge and, as a result, limit their success in school or jobs.
Different people can have different kinds of learning disabilities. One person may have difficulty with language development. Another may have problems with reading or writing. Still another may have trouble working with numbers.
People can have more than one disorder, but reading is the most common area of difficulty.
Learning disabilities are neurological(神经系统的) disorders that affect the brain’s ability to store, process and communicate information. The National Center for Learning Disabilities estimates that fifteen million Americans, or five percent, are affected.
The group says three million students in the United States receive some kind of special help in school because of learning disabilities.
There are different names for different disorders. For example, a person who has difficulty reading may have dyslexia. Someone who has trouble with mathematics may have dyscalculia.
Learning disabilities may help explain why some students do not perform as well in school as intelligence tests suggest they should.
People with a learning disability may have trouble following directions. Or they may not know how to start a task. Children who have problems connecting letters with sounds or understanding what they read may be showing signs of learning disabilities.
But since these are a group of disorders, there is no one single sign to look for.
Experts say learning disabilities cannot be cured. But people can learn ways to deal with their disorders.
60. Most people with learning disabilities have difficulty .
A. in working with numbers B. with writing
C. with reading D. with language development
61. The reason why some students cannot learn successfully is that .
A. their brains process information differently B. they are unwilling to work hard at their lessons
C. they have trouble with reading and writing D. their intelligence is average or below average
62. What can we infer from the passage?
A. There are more people having difficulty with language development than with reading or writing.
B. Neurological disorders prevent some students from performing well in school.
C. Only a small part of the students with learning disabilities get help from society.
D. People with learning disabilities have a very bad sense of direction.

Years ago, I worked for a trucking company as a driver. It was my habit to go to company on Saturday and spend a couple hours maintaining my truck. As I was under the truck, I noticed the owner’s elderly father making his way over to his grandson’s truck next to mine.
The old man asked the kid to take him fishing. But the grandson told him all about how much he’d love to, but he couldn’t due to the prior promises. The old man then walked away. Some minutes later, the father came out and asked his son what the old man had wanted. After telling the story, the kid ended it with saying, “I’m not taking that old man fishing. It’s worse than taking a kid.”
That just broke my heart.
I quit working immediately and headed home. I loaded up something like a lawn chair, a pole , and headed back to the yard. On the way I bought a big bobber and some worms. When I got there, I knocked on the door and invited him fishing. If I was like taking a kid fishing, I had determined to take him where I’d take a kid.
When we got there I put him in the lawn chair beside the water, baited and cast the line, and handed him the pole. Soon that big old bobber started to dance; he set the hook, drew the fish in skillfully. And handed the pole to me. I unhooked the fish, re-baited and cast, and again handed it to him. This went on for about half an hour at which point he informed me he was tired and needed to go home. Then I got home. When I got him home I gave the fish to his daughter-in-law with instructions to make sure he got them for dinner and then left.
Two weeks later, the old man died. His family told me later all he talked about during that time was his fishing trip. While I get the satisfaction of knowing I took an old man on his last fishing trip, his family has to live with the knowledge that a stranger took their grandpa on his last fishing trip.
Whenever you get the chance, don’t forget about taking grandpa fishing, you may be in the same place and you’ll want your family to care about you too.
. 67. What is the purpose of writing this story?
A. To persuade people to care for old men B. To introduce how he taught an old man to fish
C. To show how he behaved to an old man D. To advise people to go fishing with old men
68. Why did the grandson refuse the old man’s request?
A. Because he had invited others. B. Because he didn’t know how to fish.
C. Because he had to take care of his kids. D. Because he didn’t want to take the trouble
69. The author stopped his work immediately because he ________.
A. became quite angry after listening to the words of his boss’s son
B. decided to drive home for fishing tools and take the old man fishing
C. needed to go and buy a big bobber and some worms he needed
D. had got to head home to deal with some urgent situations
70. Which words can describe the author most properly from the story?
A. Responsible and kind B. Clever and brave
C. Warm-hearted but poor D. Hardworking and lonely
第二节(共5小题:每小题2分,共10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的五个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中没有多余选项。
Public Speaking and Critical Thinking
What is critical thinking? To a certain degree, it’s a matter of logic(逻辑)?of being able to spot weaknesses in other people’s arguments and to avoid them in your own. It also includes related skills such as distinguishing fact from opinion and assessing the soundness of evidence.
In the broad sense, critical thinking is focused, organized thinking?the ability to see clearly the relationships among ideas. 71 The greatest thinkers, scientists, and inventors have often taken information that was readily available put it together differently to produce new ideas. That, too, is critical thinking.
72 As the class goes on, for example, you will probably spend a good deal of time organizing your speeches. While this may seem like a purely mechanical(机械的) exercise, it is closely connected with critical thinking. If the structure of your speech is loose and confused, chances are that your thinking is also disordered and confused. If, on the other hand, the structure is clear, there is a good chance your thinking is too. Organizing a speech is not just a matter of arranging the ideas you already have. 73
What is true of organization is true of many aspects of public speaking. 74 As you work on expressing your ideas in clear, accurate language, you will improve your ability to think clearly and accurately. 75 As you learn to listen critically to speeches in class, you will be better able to assess the ideas of speakers in a variety of situations.
If you take full advantage of your speech class, you will be able to develop your skills as a critical thinker in many circumstances. This is one reason public speaking has been regarded as a vital part of education since the days of ancient Greece.
选项:
A. Rather, it is an important part of shaping the ideas themselves.
B. It has often been said that there are few new ideas in the world, only reorganized ideas.
C. If you are wondering what this has to do with your public speaking class, the answer is quite a lot.
D. The skills you learn in your speech class can help you become a more effective thinker in a number of ways.
E. As you study the role of evidence and reasoning in speechmaking, you will see how they can be used in other forms of communication as well.
