2 all of these are valuable goals to achieve, but it is my belief that most students today pursue higher education to prepare for their future careers.

1 in the past , preparing a meal was a long and laborious process.
2 meals can now be prepared in a matter of minutes rather than hours.
3 most importantly ,because food preparation is no longer such a time - consuming process, people have more time for other things.

topic 4: it has been said ."not everything that is learned is contained in books." compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. in your opinion, which source is more important? why?
1 the knowledge we gain from books and formal education enable us to learn about things that we have no opportunity to experience in daily life.
2 practical experience, on the other hand, can give us more useful knowledge.
3 it is said that one learns best by doing, and i believe that this is true, whether one is successful or not.

topic 5: a company has announced that it wishes to built a large factory near your community. discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. do you support or oppose the factory ? explain your position.
1 an obvious advantage is an increase in the number of available jobs, and many people in the community might find employment in the new factory.
2 it would have to pay some taxes to the local government, and workers might go shopping or eat at a restaurant in the area before or after their shifts.
3 depending on what kind of factory it is, it might pollute the environment and bring down property values.
